New Site!

Welcome to the new site for the Civil Disobedience Evoution Fund! We created a new site in conjunction with some new plans we have for the Fund. We'll be announcing them shortly.

Until then, you can read about the fund and our goals at the About Us page.

My name is Brian Travis. I'm a member of the Board of Directors of the Civil Disobedience Evolution Fund and the new Webmaster. I got the job because I suggested a new site. That's what happens with these kind of things, you know!

Since many of our supporters are into that sort of thing, I can talk about the internals of the site. Please feel free to comment below if you have some ideas.

The site is running a content management system called Drupal. It runs on a server in New Hampshire owned by a friend of the liberty movement. In order to keep costs down, the Donate buttons will connect directly to PayPal. From there, you can use your PayPal account or you can donate using credit cards. This is a great service and doesn't cost the fund any monthly fees, only a per-transaction fee. We may get to the point where we will build our own donation system in order to minimize the fees, but for now this makes the most sense.

There are some things that I would ike to add to the site as we ramp up:

  • Since our monthly pledge goal is $10,000, I'd like to have a "thermometer" that shows how close we are to that goal.
  • I'd also like to have a list of donors who want to have their name listed. Choosing whether or not to list your name is totally voluntary, but there are some people who want it known that they contribute. We'd like to offer that exposure.
  • I'd like to place polls from time to time so we can see what our readers think are important topics in the area of civil disobedience.
  • Finally, there should be some sort of voting that would tell us what the donors think are important cases to support. We're still working on the details, but I'll announce on this blog once we figure things out.

So thanks for stopping by. You can leave a comment here, or you can send an email to brian@cdevolution.org.

I like the idea of a thermometer. And I agree that a list of donors should be filtered by whether or not a donor wants his or her name to be displayed.
