Free Rich Paul and support Keene’s Disobedient Seven
The Civil Disobedience Evolution Fund will be supporting the heroic activists who said NO to the Keene Police Department yesterday in the town's Central Square. Seven people were arrested, starting with Keene native Heika Courser.
Heika was enjoying a beer with friends when armed employees of the Keene Police Department starting barking orders about her "open container." For her so-called crime, her hands were bound together by handcuffs and two men put her in the back of their car.
The Free Keene activists weren't happy about this. Calls over the invaluable Porc 411 were sent out and more activists responded. Wes Gilreath, Ian Freeman, Smeg McClain and Rich Paul heroically stood in front of the police car in an attempt to block the Keene kidnappers. All were arrested. Johnny Ray was ticketed at Keene Central Square for enjoying a beer in public. In response, he decided to go to the police station with other Free Keene activists and enjoy another cold one there. He received another ticket. David Dixon also received a ticket for drinking a beer at the station. By the end of the day, seven people were caged or received tickets and all will need to appear before a judge to answer for their victimless crimes.
Nick Ryder shot and edited the following dramatic video of the brave activists:
The Civil Disobedience Evolution Fund will reach out to all seven activists to see how we can be of assistance.
Currently all have been released but one, Rich Paul. This morning at his bail hearing Judge Burke asked Rich what he thought about a bail of $1,000. Rich responded with "When you're happy and you know it shake your chains" and rattled his leg shackles. Burke then set the bail to $5,000.
We asked Attorney Lance Weber to find out if Rich wants to be bailed out and if the bail can be reduced. CD Evolution has set up an earmarked fund so that if you would like to get Rich out of one of Keene's Cages, you can donate. It's located on the top left of our webpage.
UPDATE: Rich Paul DOES NOT want to be bailed out and the city of Keene will keep him in one of their cages. A public defender will be assigned to him.
Additionally, you can donate to our general fund to join us in supporting all of Keene's Disobedient 7.
The Civil Disobedience Evolution Fund has established a fund to support Keene's Disobedient 7 against media smears and the city of Keene's legal machine. CD Evolution's mission is to support the good people who break bad laws but how much support relies on the generosity of caring people like you. Please consider donating today.
