Fundraising Goal: $10,000 a month
The Civil Disobedience Evolution Fund supports activists who work towards a world that is fairer, safer, and more free. In order to achieve these goals, some activists engage in activities that carry a risk of arrest and detainment by various authorities. One classic example of this is Rosa Parks' actions that started the civil rights movement.
If an activist is jailed, his or her landlord usually still wants the rent. Car payments are due, and the electricity company wants their monthly payment. In addition, there are usually going to be legal matters to deal with.
The Civil Disobedience Evolution Fund will hire a full-time staff attorney to represent activists in New Hampshire free of charge.
In order for the Fund to support these brave activists, we will need pledges totalling $10,000 per month. This will give us enough money for a full-time staff attorney with enough left over for other expenses and to meet our educational goals.
That may seem like a lot of money, but a shared burden is much easier to bear. Meeting our goal will only require a thousand people pledging $10 per month. Or ony a hundred people pledging $100. Or some combination.
